Thinking about a new bridge

I bought a bigsby for my 350 and I am considering replacing my standard ric bridge. I'm thinking the unthinkable ... a post mounted bridge like the tone pros w/graphite saddles. Has anybody tried a tunamatic, floating or post mounted, with their ric? Or used graphite saddles on a standard ric bridge somehow? Thanks Condo

Hi I had a tuneomatic bridge with graphite piezo saddles on my 370. I got it like this and took it back to original. But it was a nice conversion though. The Rickenbacker bridge plate had been removed, then the holes drilled for the posts to push into. It sounded fine and looked OK - just not to my taste. It was a good conversion to my mind, in that I could simply pull the posts out and screw the bridge plate back in place to return it to stock and no one would ever know to look at it. It's a good mod to try and if you don't like it - it's easy to reverse the process without too much effort and you won't spoil the look of the guitar. I hope this helps.

And exactly what is wrong with your RIC bridge?

Thanks for the insight Graham. Piezo's eh, that could be fun. Spence, I dont think anything is wrong with my bridge, it works as designed. Its just not the best solution for use with a bigsby. A ric roller bridge is an option as well. I really haven't decided what I'm going to do. The graphtech saddles interest me. They are supposed to cut down on string breakage and I believe will allow the strings to move freely back into place after using the bigsby.

There was a 66 345 on eBay a while back with a Tune-o-matic (

Adam, thanks for the link. The tune-o-matic doesnt look so foriegn. And it does appear that reversing the mod wouldn't be to difficult to hide.
