Mangala Vallis

I was getting my prog fix this morning on
www.thedividingline.com and heard a song by an Italian prog band called Mangala Vallis; very Genesis-y with lots of mellotron and synth, but what caught my ear was that magical growl. Sure enough, the bassist/guitarist, Mirco Consolini, IDs the sound as "bass Rickenbacker". I had never heard them before but really enjoyed the piece.

I wonder if John Cyg is still keeping his list.

Yep, still compiling "The List"!
I just put an order in for The Book of Dreams on
www.znrcds.com!
Thanks for the lead Lindsay!

So there you are! I sent an e-mail to the band asking for a place to buy the disc, but you've solved that for me. Thanks! I liked what I heard, I hope you do to, very much the classic Tone.
BTW, have you considered doing a Live365 type webcast of your list? Imagine, nothing but Ric basses! I'd just have to give up and move into one of Amazon's warehouses to save on shipping.

That's a cool idea. Does anybody have any info on the legalities of webcasting music?

www.live365.com is one place to start. If you're not familiar with it, Live365 is a network of individual webcasters; evidently they do a lot of the legwork but charge a fee. I'm sure there are other networks out there as well. Or, you could apply to host a show at the Dividing Line or some similar program. Then, next stop Hollywood!

Definitely Rickenbacker. I hear the early Genesis influence, and strangely enough, Spock's Beard with some of the singing and guitars. Not your typical Italian prog. Thanks again for the tip!
Also, I've been listening to Live365 stations for several days now. Awesome concept and a great selection of Prog! They've got an all Hammond B3 station, so why not a RIC bass station?!
