Or is it? Yes, reversed headstock, but no horseshoe, no Toaster. What do you think? A rogue S with a lefty stock? Am I missing something here?

I believe the seller mentions in the ad that he special ordered this bass with hi gains in both positions.

Thanks, I was missing something, obviously. Must remember - read ad with glasses ON. Mind you, it is still a bit of a strange animal - take away the toaster and the shoe, put in high gains and a cuff guard, and you basically have an S with a lefty stock.

It certainly is a cool guitar. But I wonder about the story. The bridge pickup surround doesn't have the cutout like the new ones do. Also I don't see the two oval bar thingies on either side of the buttons on the neck pickup(that would be there if these were new 4003 hi-gain pickups.) This makes me wonder if maybe somebody bought this C64 for its pickups, swapped them with late 70's 4001/early 4003 pickups and then sold it.
