Truss rod questions

Last night I adjusted the truss rods on my '02 330/6. I noticed the bass side rod is harder to turn than the treble side, and the treble side rod is just barely tightened down. If I were to loosen it another third of a turn or so it would become loose. Is this normal?

Also, I noticed the threads on my guitar stick out quite a bit more than in the picture in the Rick manual on their website. The distance between the exposed threads and the nuts on my guitar is approximately 1/4" , whereas the threads are just barely visible in the picture. One side also sticks out a hair more than the other on my guitar.
