Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there are any sonic differences between that and the original Cheyenne?

there will be differences because of ... 1-different pickup placement ... 2-different fretboard wood ... 3-different finish

Drat! It had to be around Christmas, too when the money is already tight.

This happens every year. I think I'll save my cash in 2005 till Christmas time and take advantage of all the nice stuff that is sacrificed at the end of the year.

Thanks. That's two nice basses I'll have to pass up.

Yes the differences will be mainly due to the different pickup placement, and the fact that the original was maple through the neck/fretboard with walnut wings, while the CII (current version) has maple/bubinga fretbord and maple/walnut/maple laminated wings.
The original CII had two piece wings (maple top/walnut back) plus walnut wings on the headstock.

Under the strings! (cymbal and bass drum crash off in the distance!)

My CIIv1 has an uninished board and satin finish. AFAIK they are now gloss finished.
