Vintage scatterwounds on a '92 360

Hi...I recently bought a beautiful 1992 360/6 Mapleglo with the black hardware. I want to replace the Hi-Gains with the Vintage 7.4 Scatterwounds. I called Jim Rhodes to order the pickups and he said I should check under the neck pickup to make sure it's routed out so that a Vintage PU would fit.
Well...I tried to check it but being a moron (and extremely reticent about screwing up a perfectly good guitar) I couldn't (wouldn't) pry up the neck PU's.
Do you know for sure if the '92 360 will accept the Vintage PU's?
If it will...should I order black rubber grommets to replace the foam grommets?
Will the new chrome PUs look funny with the black hardware.......Can the toaster covers be painted black??
If anyone wants to know why I'm posting something like this on the 4th of July...well, it the best American guitar and I've got the Rick fever bad.
I really appreciate any advice.
Best, Dave in Va.

Dave in Va., From what I've seen in Ricks from at least the late 80s to present, the routed area under the PUs will accept Any PU Rick makes.
So go for it!!BTW, the screws you remove to get the PU out are the Middle ones on each end of the PU.

Hi Dave in VA
Check the post named 'and in the end' under the Ric Guitars subject.
You should find there if it's cool to have a mixed set of chrome and black hardware
go for it - it's the best looking rics (ok, I'm partial, I admit)

I copped the jpg of the Mapleglo with the chrome toasters. Looks fine to me. I'm going to go ahead and order the 2 Vintage Toasters and some grommets and go for it.
The other option I was thinking about was a '66 340 that's on eBay. I'm guessing that the '92 360 with the Vintage Toasters ought to sound sufficiently 60ish enough (and save me a grand). Are ther any other oddball mods I should make (soundwise)?
You guys are great. When I get the PU's in I'll try and figure out how to post a pic.
Thanks, Dave in Va.
(660/12 on order for what seems like 20 years...really only about 11 weeks).

Dave: You will be happy with the sound of the scatter wound toasters.
