Center Block on 300 series

I recently played (for the first time ever) a 330/6 and a 360/6. I noticed that there was a solid center block in each guitar. Have these guitars always had this feature, or is this a recent development?

There actually is No "centerblock"[ala Gibson 335]
in the semihollow Rick 300 series. Likely, you are basing your comment on looking into the soundhole, and seeing the solid part of the
routed-from-the-back interior that the neck slides into.I guess one could make this observation if they didn't know how the giutar was actually made.

Thanks, but then does that mean the pickups are mounted into the neck?

Phil,
No, not really, though the neck PU is right above the meat of the neck/body joint, which, in cabinet makers terms, is a basic mortise and tenon joint.The neck extends around 3-1/2" into the body.

Why isn't that used on regular 330/360s ?

This is a replacement body that I made off the original that had been in a car fire .
This was done 6 years ago for a good customer of mine .
He lost a 1957 Strat ,a D-41 ,a blonde guild Starfire ,and the 360 -OS 12 string ...he was not a happy guy.
We buried the remains at 'sea' ...in the Puget Sound here in Seattle , after a beach BBQ

The neck is set in like other glued in Ricks.It is simply a mortise and tenon joint.

This body is upside down ,the neck fits into the slot above the X in the center .
After the neck goes in the back was glued on and trimmed to fit the edge of the body .
Then the 'F' hole was cut and the binding was installed ....I'll see if I can find any other photos of it in any state/condition after this photo.

Is this photo a good representation of traditional '60s X-bracing? The caption says its from a V64.
