I have delt with one of the bidders on the V63. Maybe I should ask him what the attraction was.

It seems a little wierd...two zero feedback bidders jack the price way up and one of them is in Australia (seller ships only to US) Aussie bidder has been a member since 2000 and has 0 feedback...the other 0 feedback bidder just registered on jan 11...strange!

For sure, very strange, if I were high bidder I'd be asking to retract my bid based on those phoney bids.

This one is running $800+ over norm

Why would you say they are phony ? The third highest bid is from a bidder with a feed back of 187, plus the highest bid was made right at the end when the feedback of the second highest bidder could clearly been seen. I don't understand your logic, if you felt like that why would you have bid in the first place ? It is also possible the Australian bidder emailed the seller for permission to bid even thought not from the US and received the OK.

I don't know if it's shilling or not but anytime I see a bid history like that it just sends up red flags to me. There have certainly been cases of different high volume sellers "co-operating" to drive up the price on each other's items and also cases of sellers using a new 0 feedback account under a different name to bid on their own items...I'm not saying that this is the case in this auction, but you never know...it just makes me suspicious.

I think that,s a genuine sale. Not reflective of the market price, but the winner has feedback and the 3rd highest bidder knows the game too. They both would have known it was a $2K bass. The Oz guy just bid it up and we know E bay goes that way sometimes.
People get caught up in the emotion of it and big sales are the result. Good news for the seller and watch those V63,s come up for sale now...

v63... overflated beyond belief now.

It's the "S factor." Pure and simple. Sad really.

Since I bought my V63 from Chris Pappas, I don`t even look anymore for Rics for sale, either V63, CS or others :-)
I prefer playing !!!

I agree with Brian. There may have been some shill bidding, but the final bidder placed his bid in the last 2 minutes when all of the (possible) games were already apparent.

But the funniest part of this auction to me is that it had a BIN of $1700.00 that nobody was interested in for at least 5 days!

One of the bidders bought something from me about a month ago. I just emailed him and told him about this forum and how V63's typically sell for $1500 to $1650. He is a nice guy but is maybe not well informed. He bid $2500

He says he collects V63's and the only color he is missing is JG.

Another thing to consider is that for somebody with alot of money (I don't know if this is the case) the difference between $2500 and $1700 is like me shopping for gas that is $0.03 cheaper....I don't really bother. If it is the color he wants and he has the money....then it is a good deal for him.
