Hi all

I finally got a Rickenbacker 620 last Friday, after literally years of waiting. I normally play bass (started playing guitar at 12, then bass [early 70s Fender P]), and am now very happily playing both.

It has taken all my money but for 600£ I got a black, perfect condition, July 1986 2x higain 620. I am in love. It was funny actually, I am a delivery driver (in London) by day and was working with a guy from Czech republic whose English is pretty poor, when i took a detour to buy it. I bought this guitar (from a dealer) and got the guy down from 750 (?) to 600. The Czech guy was like 'Oh my God, I thought it was 75 to 60 not 750 to 600!!!!'. I was like 'look at it!!!' I'd have 10 if i could afford them at that price. Image

I'm sure I could have got it cheaper but I'm a mod and yknow cash on hip buy first think later etc ;) By night I'm the only male in a four piece band called The Blanks. There are two stunning twins in the band. We haven't played a gig yet.. Ill keep you all informed how it goes. BTW fantastic site, especially the Iron Door stuff

Spk soon

Welcome! Now you need to get a Rick bass! Once I got my 4001V63 I quit playing my old Jazz Bass.

Hi Alex, and welcome.
Well, as for the 620, it's my favorite guitar amongst ALL ever made on the planet. (Are you surprised, guys?) Now, if only I could find one locally...

Hi - welcome.

May we see a picture of the twins holding it please?

Then we'd be able to tell you more about the guitar, of course.

I'm trying to find photos but its hard to find one with both twins on and you probably wouldn't believe me if it was two seperate ones! Thanks for the warm welcome. I would seriously love a 12, I know what you mean jangle-jangle chime chime but I am very very poor till the 5th of February. Then I need an amplifier for the 6 string first. Not sure what to go for actually - I may have to cobble together two months wages to get what I want, either Vox or some kind of Fender Twin. Thanks again for helloes

Hi Alex, and welcome. Is that one of the twins hanging on the wall next to your 620?

If you haven't played a gig yet, I wouldn't worry about it. With two stunning twins AND a Rickenbacker in your band, the gigs will soon come flooding in.
BTW, welcome....& do the twins play anything? A twin with a Ric...wow!

Well done, Alex. I'm about to fulfill my dream - a brand spankin' new 330V will be arriving next week (crapping myself about the repayments - 1055 pounds in your currency, $2600 in mine!). I'm going to hug it, squeeze it, kiss it and love it (is sex with a guitar under the age of 16 illegal??).

Alas, no band, no twins, no money, no ability but I'm working on it (except the twins). The neighbours have stopped complaining so perhaps the ability is on the up and up!

Hope you have a great time with the Ric.

All the best and cheers!

I got a 620 about two months ago. I really dig it and I prefer the neck to the 660 I used to have. Stock rics are great anyway.

David: An interesting comment on your preference for the 620 neck.

Would you mind commenting on the difference in feel between these two necks and elaborate on the reason for your preference.
