Anybody using a tonelab?

?
So I still have not upgraded my amp and I'm thinking any tube amp over 5 watts would be overkill for my apartment. My current philosophy du jour is to get a tonelab and run it through a multichannel keyboard amp, so as to be able to hook up a utility mike for other instruments. I'd go valvetronix 30 but I'm not sure those would work for anything but a guitar.
Any experience with these?

I guess I'll answer my own question - picked one up last Saturday in a local shop for less (after taxes) than from a big chain mail order place.
In a word, it sounds great. Nice dynamic tone at any level

extemely flexible. Very good vox/fender sounds .Not in terms of accuracy necessarily, but they sound good on their own merits.
My only problem with it is the compressor pedal simulation - it amplifies pick-click noises in a really distracting and unmusical way, and tweaking has not resolved it. Ugh. This is more than a minor problem when one's "main axe" is a 12-string rick.
Still a good unit and hopefully the compressor thing will get worked out.

John, are you using a "hard" pick, or does the composition of the pick matter at all? I have an AD120VTH head which, I believe, has the same electronics as the ToneLab, but haven't played around wiht it much.

Ya know, that's an excellent question. At the moment I'm using regular fender celluloid mediums. ANy suggestions for a softer pick?
It definitely gets "clickier" with the comp on. . .but obviously a mellower pick would help.
The unit as a whole sounds really good for a single box.

I have a buddy in Philly who has been bending my ear about how great his new Tonelab is....he is pretty discerning when it comes to this type of stuff....I would tend to lean towards anything he recommends....

I just stayed up past my bedtime with it. I was going through my usual routine (Practice/therapy, really) and had an inspiration to try the wah with my 660/12. This was on the AC30TB model with the gain cranked. I got some absolutely demonic sounds.
If you want feedbacky shoegazy wall-o-sound that nonetheless sounds good, (at late-nite volumes) I got it!

Guys, maybe you can help me with this I was
over at a friends house today with my guitar.
He just bought a Vox AD30VT and with my guitar
I got some good sounds we are going to use the amp for recordings. My amp is a Vox AC-30TBX
and to get different sounds thru my amp would
the (ToneLab)or the (toneLab SE) or an AD120VTH
be a good match for my AC-30. The only thing with
the AC-30TBX is that I can't crank the volume at
home. I'm also saving for a Ric to offset my
Gretsch. So what I'm asking is which one is
better to run thru my AC-30TBX.
