Im on the lookout for the AC30 tone in my live rig without the big price tag & weight. Right now im using a 370 with buckers and a 330 with high gains into a Fender 4-10 Deville. The tone is nice and clean but lacks personality (if that makes any sense)& the Deville is a back breaker.I've heard some good things about the Laney VC30 being loud enough to use live & very voxy with good tubes and speaker upgrade. Any comments or other amp suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can't really comment on the Laney, but our lead player uses a Line 6 modelling amp. The AC30 setting is great, and it does a lot of cool stuff for 1/2 the money of an AC30. I own an AC30; if I ever had to replace it I couldn't afford it- I'd probably get one of these.

I've had the Laney VC30-112 now for 2.5 years. It was the best I could do to imitate a big Vox because I just can't afford them. I like it just fine for volume and tone. It only gets played in my basement but it will drive you right out of the house on about 5 with my 6 string Ricks and on 4 with the 12 string!

Well I just picked up a VC30 2-10, and so far Im really likeing the tone with my Ricks. The big surprise for me is the distortion channel, I actually like it! It is much nicer than the Deville. The jury is still out on the reverb, its much more subtle than the Fender so I have to get used to that. I havent been able to really crank it yet ( two cancelled band rehersals...argh) so Im still waiting to see how it keeps up with my loud drummer. Ill post again after I give it a good workout :-)

Well after living with the vc30 for awhile, I've decided that the "Vox" tone is very cool but is not right for me. The VC Dirty channel is great but the clean tone has too much mid range for my taste & I found that I really miss the Fender sparkle & reverb. So now Im on the lookout for a silver face Vibrolux to try out.
If anyone wants to buy my VC30, drop me an email.
