New 4003 Montezuma Brown delivered today!!!

Well, it was delivered an hour ago. I finally have a RIC back in my arsenal !!!! Unfortunately it is only 8 degrees here so, 47 painstaking hrs left to wait to open the box. It's already killing me. Just at the time my Patriots will be kicking off, I'll be playing my new RIC!! Best of both worlds. Feels like Christmas day!! I'll post pics when I can.
On another subject, I'm now thinking about upgrading my amp rig. It's time. I've been playing through a Crate combo but want something much more powerful. Thinking Ampeg. Any thoughts? I want something that I can use to play everything from The Beatles to Rush. Cost wise though, I could probably get a C64 for what the amp rig will run. I would love that in Jetglo, please. Are they still making them in Jetglo?? I have serious RAS now. Such a dilema.

Congrats on the new Rick Scott, enjoy.
Have you checked out any of the GK combos? I heard many players like those Yorkvike combos also, except if you play a 5 string bass though one the lower notes seem to lose it.

Good point, Joey. I have had the good luck and pleasure to meet the man who designed the Peavey guitar, bass and pickups when they crossed over to instruments. Mr. Chip Todd. He designed the first prototype guitar/bass line for Peavey beginning in 1975. The 'T' series was the first by Peavey. They are all excellent quality instruments made in the USA. And if you look on eBay, very affordable. He is currently heavily modifying a 1979 T-40 4 string bass that I supplied him. He's made a brand new T-40/5 neck and bridge to upgrade it to a 5 string. The modifications to the body are so much that it's going to rival custom shop specs. If anyone is interested, I'll post pics when completed.
So, I hadn't taken the 5 stringer in consideration for amplification. I appreciate your pointing that out. I'm considering ordering a 4004/5 Montezuma Brown to compliment my 4003MB. We'll see what happens!!!

Scott, I have nothing but good things to say about GK, their amps kick it and their service department is excellent.

There are only 3 brands of amps that I use ...
AMPEG and AMPEG and AMPEG ...
the b2r blew everything else away in the store when I tried it ... more warmth and more bottom ...

For an amp, my opinion is to always buy as much power as you can afford and way more than you think you'd ever need. More power equals more clarity at higher volumes. Mesa Boogie, Ampeg, SWR, and GK make some great amps and that is where I'd start looking. Possibly consider buying a "better" model used rather than just sticking with new to get more bang for the buck.
I prefer using a preamp (I have an Ampeg SVP-Pro) and a poweramp (1000 watt Ashly FET-2000M) to a traditional "all in one amp". That way you can get the tone that you need and match it to the poweramp that suits your needs best.
As far as getting another Ric or a better amp....I hate to say it but get the better amp now so you can enjoy and get more use out of the Ric you already have.

I bet the rack weighs more than the head does, how many watts is that Jeffrey? A friend of mine has one of those and it weighs about 6 or 7 lbs.

I bought a used Eden Nemesis 210 Combo (250 watts, plus DI out) for $400. It's a great piece of gear and sounds fantastic.

The WW amp does weight about 7 lbs. and puts out 650 watts rms into 4 Ohms. He makes one that does 1200 watts rms into 4 Ohms, and maybe 1/2 lb. more in weight!
The whole rack is still quite light and can slide around if the speaker cabinet has a slippery surface like Tolex. I need to put a foam pad under it to prevent that from happening.
