Is there enough activity? I'd like to see it as I've been interested in a Ric Acoustic lately.

I love my Comstock. No other acoustic even comes close.

There just aren't enough of them out there, unfortunately. I wish I could play one to see how great they sound, they look GORGEOUS! All I have heard is how awesome they sound, too.
I've always wanted one of those Gibson Jumbos, but I would easily go for a Rick acoustic if I could only get my hands on one!

I played a Comstock at Dave's Guitars in LaCrosse, WI. There was a rosewood Ric jumbo too but it paled in comparison. I have regretted NOT buying it to this day. 3 years later, I've bought a Gibson jumbo (J100) and it's wonderful -BUT- nowhere near as nice in tone and playability as the Comstock. I will order a Comstock yet. Probably in Fireglo. Steve, it outclassed and outplayed every Gibson, Taylor, Martin, and Guild in the shop. I wanted one with the pickup, so I let it go...

Mine doesn't have the pickup, either, and it is the one thing that I wish it had. I have thought about contacting RIC and finding out how much it would cost to have them install one for me.... I have also thought about having a luthier friend put one in for me, although I would not want the value of my Ric to be altered in any way by having it modded by someone other than the company that manufactured it in the first place.... Maybe I'm just paranoid, but Rics do that to me!

A RIC acoustic has been on my list also. I'd like a jetglo. I asked JH once if he ever consider making a Jazzbo acoustic bass. He thought it would be an interesting project for a rainy day...

I'm very interested in a RIC acoustic. Melissa, how difficult is that to play considering the size of the guitar?? They seem to be very big. Nice though.

Not hard to play at all. In fact, the action is incredibly low, and it feels and sounds like a dream. The big body gives it incredible resonance, and it was pretty easy to get used to.

A Jazzbo acoustic bass is my holy grail ABG. I sure hope Mr. Hall would consider making them.

Melissa, Is the neck narrow like a standard Ric? Or a little wider like a 660?

I actually got to try a Ric acoustic the other day & living in England, that is no easy feat (RicsRUs). I expected it to be very bright (all maple), but I was suprised at how truly wonderful it sounded. Very easy to play too. I don't know the neck dimensions (I haven't checked the Ric site), but all my own gtrs. are Rics & I felt totaly at home playing this one. In the studio, I regularly play clients Martins & Taylors & I honestly feel that the guitar I played was in the same league, only it looked better (fireglo & that beautiful shaped h/stock).
A Ric acoustic is definately on my shopping list.

Hmmmm.... It's hard to say about the neck, simply because playing an acoustic just feels a little different than playing an electric--I think it is the same width as a standard Ric neck, and the action is just as low as any of my electrics.... Anyway, it feels just great to play. I suppose I will have to measure and compare the neck widths at some time!

I seem to recall that the acoustics' neck width is 1 11/16" at the nut, making it a tad wider than a 660, which is a tad wider than a 360 (for example). Amazing the difference a tad makes. Still a good deal narrower than my beautiful Ibanez jumbo or Brazilian nylon acoustics.

That's kind of what I mean.... For an acoustic, it feels nice and narrow, because lots of acoustics feel much wider! My back-up acoustic is a Takamine, and its neck is probably about the same width as the Comstock, but the action is a bit higher and is not nearly as comfortable or responsive to play--since I got the Ric it has been relegated to slide playing!

I only ask because of my unorthodox way of playing some chords I prefer a wider neck. My hands aren't huge, but not small either. I would love to be able to try a Ric acoustic.
