That little pack in the case

My new Ric came with a pack to keep down moisture i suppose.
I read this on the RIC web site and wondered what you'll do with it, Keep it or toss it?
"Do not place anti-moisture packets or formulas in the case with the instrument. These not only produce finish damaging chemicals, but also tend to dry out the guitar to a damaging degree."
I live in Florida and with 80% humidity most the time (the rest of the time it's 100%) and don't know if it would help or hurt the guitar.

David, I,m in Fla too and have four 200 gram silica packets that protect around 15sq feet. I rotate them when the humidity gets too high in the cases and that brings it down a little in a day or too. Mine are all vintage basses so it,s important to keep on top of it, but I,ve had no problems.
With the cold front coming through, it,s a very pleasant 51% here at present!

Hey Wints,
I live about 25 miles south of Chicago and we got 8 inches of snow this week-end and last night it was a warm 5 degrees out,can I give you some of that!!!!????? In that kind of weather you really got to be carful with the guitars.

Paul, you can keep that!! I have zero tolerance for cold weather and suffer from Raynaud,s so anything under 60F and I start hurting. I,m orginally from the U.K. so we get cold, but not Chicago cold. Not much snow either just long grey days. The only good thing there relating to instruments is the low humidity all year round.
When I was younger I used to leave my bass out propped against a chair in front of a window all year round. It never suffered in any way. I had a summer in Fla where I didn,t play much and I hadn,t been in town and running the air....the frets had turned green, and this was with the bass in the case....

I'm guessing I'm in the same boat as Peter, here in Moncton but we've got about 50cm out there in the past few days.

Patrick,please do,although we're going through a cold snap this has been a relativly mild winter so far.
Wints,Im sorry to hear you you have Raynaud's My wife has RSD which I hear is very close to Raynaud's,and she has a hell of a time when the weather gets below 60F,also when the temp gets above 90F,so I know what the cold can do I wish you the best and stay where it's warm.
