Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to all! I am an "over the hill" Ric player (54). I had gotten out of music some years ago but found that I couldn't "stay out". When I made the decision to "return", I immediately bought myself a 4003 Midnight Blue and haven't looked back! I use an Ampeg rig (SVT5Pro with a now discontinued PR8X10). My Wife recently supplemented my gear with a new American Deluxe Jazz QMT for Christmas. Both these fine basses have pretty much cured GAS...yeah right! Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! Glad to be here, guys! Looks like a pretty good source of Info!

Welcome Chuck, I too am an over the hill bass player at 51 who doesn't know enough to stop (and hopefully never will) and still play frequently. I use a variety of Rics and have three old SVT's which I still use.

Chuck, welcome to the Forum. I always say that it's not how old you are, it's how you get old. Playing music keeps you young! Image

Welcome Chuck, I know all about GAS, I want to buy a new rick this year just havent made up my mind on what I want yet.

I was really hoping that RIC may have unveiled a 4004 CII 8-string this year. Image

Hello and welcome Chuck.

You're never too old to rock....it's nice to have you more experienced guys on the forum Image

As you're finding out, there's no cure for GAS and you can never have too many Rics.

hey guys ... over the hill is a state of mind and not age ... I am 50 and I am more on top of my game playing bass than I was in my youth ...

Welcome Chuck! I've seen you over at the FDP. Here you are like a family member, now go clean your room! Image

You will need to make room in your closet for a few more Rickenbackers!

Thanks for the welcome guys! I never really felt "over the hill" per se...just old. Naw...not really! Actually, I absolutely agree that playing keeps us young. I hadn't played in a group for many years and I noticed that after joining up with this bunch of "old farts", I immediately began to feel like a kid again. All in all, pretty cool! Thanks again guys!
