What is the sunburst 5 string in the top pic? Is that a sunburst 4004? I though they only came in the clear stain colors.
Also, does anyone know if those 5 strings are on wider fretboards?

Looks like a Fireglo 4004 Cii 5 ... Whoo hooo !!!!!

Fireglo isn't offered as an option on the Ric site, but it looks lovely, wish we had some better close ups of that body.

If that 360's color is more accurate than RIC's website, that's about what I was hoping for re: Blueburst. It's fabulous!

All standard RIC colors are available on the 4004's.

That's correct. The color chart only states that the three translucent colors are (currently) only available on the 4004, not that they are the only colors.

I'm not sure how to make the 4004Cii page any clearer on this point.

The Blue Burst, like Fireglo, is really hard to depict using digital photography and everyone's individual monitor of unknown calibration. The color is a decidely electric blue, quite dark on the outside, fading to light in the middle, but not entirely clear maple in the middle (as Fireglo is).

Each of Mary Chapin Carpenter's blue guitars is somewhat different but this year's color is quite close to her 12-string acoustic, except that the shading extends more into the middle.

John, I think it was just about this time last year that you had to explain that page...you're right though, it can't be much clearer. BTW, Blueburst is awesome!

Great pics! I ordered a Blueburst pretty much unseen (Except for the pics on RIC's website), i'm glad to see that it'll turn out nice afterall.

I'll see what I can do with the original picture, maybe I can crop a close up from it.

JH is right about the tricks of digital photography. I was trying to avoid using a flash, which seems to exacerbate the problem with correct color rendering. At least my Olympus D-400Z is pretty good with blue - it's really difficult to get a good rendering of red; that's why the Fireglo above appears darker along the edges than it actually is.

I definitely will be ordering at least one Blueburst in the near future. Maybe two!

Gary,

Thank you so much for the pics!Image

Did you use the auto exposure mode on the camera? I think it was the bright backgrounds in the first 2 pics that tricked your camera into thinking the whole scenes were bright, causing lower-than-required exposion values, thus making the basses appear darker than they actually were. Next time you encounter scenes like those, I'd humbly suggest setting it to "+1.5EV" to the camera to gain more exposure.

Jim. I won't post the direct link as it would make everyone have to scroll the page here, but if you go to http://photobucket.com/albums/v441/Thedudepit/NAMM%202005/ and look at the bottom of page 11, you'll see two pics of the 5er (and more Ric bass pics on page 12).

Maybe it’s the angle of the shot but does the horseshoe surround on the jetglo C64 look more like the one on the C64S - what do you think?

That Fireglo 4004/5Cii looks really nice, I wish there was a bigger picture of that somewhere...
