Ampeg B100R...opinions?
Supposed to be the modern, solid state version of the B-15 Portaflex.
Anybody have any feedback regarding it?

Yes, 1/4" is there but with that either you or the soundman still need a DI box. But if it's a practice/small gig amp that probably won't matter. I use an MXR M80(similar to SansAmp Bass Driver DI, which I also own)for tone shaping and usually have the tone knobs flat on the amp. The pushbutton tone controls are very handy tho', I DO use those. It doesn't have a tweeter like other bass combos which to me is a good thing. I always thought a tweeter was too brittle, the tone from this amp is very warm but does have a good bite too, just not in your face bright/fizzy. It's very punchy and holds it's own against two guitar amps and drum kit. I had an Ampeg BA115 as well but decided to sell it as I was so happy with this one. It looks very cool too, the blue tolex is groovy! Here's a link to our CD. It's my Ric 4001CS(trks.1,4)and my Gibson EB-2(trks.2,3)thru my SansAmp BDDI into the Ampeg B100R miced up close in an isolation room. You can listen to it here:

Thanks Ronn! I have the Hartke VXL pedal which can serve as a DI as well.
The tonal info is exactly what I was looking for. Sounds really nice - I was wondering about the "bite" & how it would hang w/ da boyz in da band. I'll check out your tunes when I get home.
Thanks again Ronn, I'll let you know when I'm in the ATX next!

Judging from the amount of beer in my glass I'd say we were about two songs into the set.
Yes, it's the world famous(and by world I mean Texas)"Hole in the Wall" on The Drag, Austin. Everything you'd ever want in a beer joint.
My Beatles band is playing there the 13th, a benefit for Budgie's drummer.
