An Ibanez 4001 copy has just sold for £410 on ebay. It was clean, but I am astounded at what this bass sold for. It equates to $772. Why dont they go a bit more and get the real deal instead ?

From what I see on eBay and read here, the prices of Rics in the UK are about double what they are in the US. When a new 4003 is ~$2K, a faker at about a third of that evidently made sense to someone - especially when it comes with a ~$100 worth real Ric TRC.

I appreciate that Ilan, but it is still a copy. I have previously discussed my thoughts on the prices of Rics in the UK on the forum. We seem to pay very high (RRP)prices compared to the US and even Japan!!! However there is always the odd Ric that seems to go quite cheaply on ebay. Failing that Mike at RicsRus always has some good deals. In my opinion I just think it is worth paying some more and getting a Ric. I think they paid around double what it is really worth.

70's fakers are of interest to some. Particularly the neck through models. The Ibanez sell in stores around $800, Univox around $600.
