Cracks appearing in Jetglo finishes.

I hope anyone can offer some advice. I am interested in a 1991 355JL. I have noticed what appears to be "crack" lines forming in the finish up and down both sides of the body and headstock. It looks like they're ready to erupt and crack open. Does anyone know why this is happening? It isn't the first time I have seen it. And I only see them on Rickenbackers.

Crack lines are usually caused by expansion and contract from temperature changes.
The wood and the finish expand at different rates .You should look at some 1970's Fender guitars...they have this also .
Rick uses conversion varnish as a finishing material .This is a tough paint that is used for bar tops and kitchen cabinets.
Fender used polyester resin base coats and top coat in the 1970's ...that is that thick stuff ...sort of Hippy coffee table /cosmic bar table top finish .You know the ones that have interesting artifacts buried in the resin!
If you are around older guitars ,like I am ,then this is something that you see a lot of .

Can you tell me if these cracks cause any change/damage to the guitar's performance/sound?

No it doesn't, It just looks bad.
