Where's my mapleglo 4001?

Hello fellow Rickenbacker lovers,

I stumbled across this forum yesterday, it's unbelievable!

Anyhow, around 1982/83 I sold a '79 or '80 mapleglo 4001 in the UK (South London). I'd LOVE to know what became of it (and wouldn't mind having it back, come to that).

I had replaced the pickguard and the truss rod cover by selfmade chrome plated brass parts. The Rickenbacker logo was engraved in black lettering in the TRC. The rear side of the body was covered with black felt to prevent it from being scratched.

The crazy thing is, I've still got the original TRC!

Does anyone recall seeing this bass? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure a few of you will understand ... ;-)

Cheers, Hans

Welcome, Hans!

I think I recall a bass similar to what you describe on eBay not long ago, maybe a couple of months. I think it was even mentioned here somewhere.

Thanks guys, I've been watching the Bay for a while now. I'll dig into the forum archives a bit deeper this time. Also, I'll see whether I can find an old pic to post here.

Hans, Welcome! Your description sounds familiar to me as well...it seems that bass was discussed about a month or two ago...check under rickenfaker....is this a real rick...faker on ebay ect. threads and you might find a link to it...if it wasn't too long ago you'll still be able to see the pics from ebay...and maybe even email the new owner (if it was your bass that we saw with the homemade looking brass tr cover.) good luck...dm
