Oh man, that is pretty steep for that bass. I love the looks of it, but I don't think it plays $1000 better than a brand new 4003, and it doesn't look $1000 better either. Obviously there is more to it than that. Only 100 made, collector item, etc. etc. The real scary thing is the 0 feedback from the seller.

I bid $835 on this auction. This morning I got a second chance offer on it at my bid price. I sent the guy an email and he responded almost immeditely and said the high bidder backed out.
So, he said he would have EBay send me the offer, and he was even going to included the shipping. I started to doing a little investigating and saw that he has the item listed as being in Hazlet, NJ. but in his email he has his address listed as NYC. Could be his work I suppose. I just feel a little uneasey about this one.
I sent one of the other bidders an email asking if they where offered a second chance. No replys yet. If all is on the up and up, that would be a good price. I don't like the zero feedback factor, and why hasn't it sold to someone that bid much higher than I. Hmmmm, what shall I do?

I would walk away. The seller has 0 feedback. I am not saying that this seller is scamming you but it is a common ploy these days.

I'd be careful, Bob. I've bid on a few auctions that I didn't win and had bogus "second chance offers" sent to me. If they say to contact them at a different email address than the seller's login i.d. it is probably some scammer.

Look the email offer over closely for clues!

Thanks guys. After checking, I found out from another higher bidder that they where not sent an offer.
I'm not walking away from this offer, I'm running !

Interstingly enough, the winning bidder is the guy who bid $2500 for a V63 a few weeks ago. He ended up being the 3rd place bidder but received a second chance offer within an hour if the end. It looked as though shill bidders pushed the price up to expose his max bid. I sold him a guitar while back and he did not seem like the kind of guy who back out of an auction hours after winning it. He paid me very quickly and has excellent feedback. Something is not right here. There is a red flag on the course Bob.

Thanks for checking that out Ted.
It's definetly a scam.

You could ask the seller to use Ebay's Escrow service, see what they say. Very often the "second chance" offers are actually sent out by interlopers who've been tracking the auction.

Thanks Jim, but I'm staying clear from this one.
Scammers are everywhere, there everywhere, I'm telling you Image

My opinion is it definitely sounds like something that would require a great deal of checking before proceeding. I would be very careful on it. Ted is this the auction you were referring to http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4713&item=3774522680 ?
If you read the feedbacks it sounds like the auction was finialized. Maybe the second chance offer in that instance was a scam.

Yes, that is the auction. The bidder leonnaze is a nice guy by my estimation. I will email him to find out if he actually bought the item.

There is a confusing facet of Ebay second chance offers. I have twice had auctions where the high bidder flaked out and I tried to make second chance offers to the second highest bidder. When hitting the second chance offer button only select bidders were allowed the offer and not the second highest bidder. I then had to Email the offer to the second highest bidder directly. Very strange. That said, I know there still are many scammers out there giving second chance offers, Iv'e been solicited many times on auctions I've lost. Buyer Beware.
