I am the biggest fan of his ever! You can't touch those Trapeze & Deep Purple records that he's on. The DEP sessions CD with Iommi is actually really good. Plus his latest CD "Soul Mover" is his best in years. His recent solo records are admittedly a bit spotty, but this one kicks. Chad Smith (RHCP) plays drums on the whole thing.
Glenn had a little problem with the Columbian Produce throughout the '70s & '80s, but he's got his act together now & it's nice to see him being productive again.
He even has his own signature series bass through Manne guitars out of Italy. I'm not totally sold on the design, but if you ask me that upper horn looks slightly Rickenbacker inspired...

Glenn is one of the main reasons I wanted to play a Rick, he's often lauded for his voice (with good reason!) but he's a pretty underrated bassist as well. Always great, gutsy r&b lines.
One of my bands opened for Pat Travers in '90 & Hughes showed up to sing "Stevie". Wow. I followed him around like a puppy all night.

I'll stop gushing now & leave you with a coupla pictures:
Me & Glenn at the Tommy Bolin Festival in Clear Lake Iowa last summer. I went all the way up there because he played 2 nights in a row.
If I look nervous it's because I am. It's not often that you get to stand next to your hero!

Plus a classic shot of the man in 1974 baby!

Burn and Stormbringer are 2 of my favourite Deep Purple LP's.
There's no doubt that GH is one of the main reasons.
