This is my Searchers observations from a recent visit in Liverpool and its Merseybeat main street:
-The MSt Gallery, usually focusing on the artist John Lennon, now displayed the Hamburg art of Klaus Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr. Amongst Astrid's famous black/white photos (mostly on the 5/6 Beatles), there was also a solo portrait of Frank Allen! (As a young Rebel Rouser). Can't remember if Frank mentioned anything about being portraited by Kirchherr in his book. But this is something he should be a little proud of!
-Cavern Club. In the re-constructed Club, they have also re-created the mosaic-patterned stage wall, featuring the names of famous Cavern acts. Searchers is quite in the centre of this wall, their piece is L-formed, the colour somehow faded. I could sight a signature (autograph?) on this piece, but couldn't identify it. (Although this is a copy of the original club, my impression is they did a good job on recreating it. Purists and those who were there in the old days may differ).
-Opposide side of the street to the Club: "Liverpool Hall of Fame"- featuring (copies of?) gold records awarded to Liverpool artists. Another section of it contains a brass(?) mini-disc for each charttopping Liverpool single: Till today 54 of them. Searchers represented in both sections, of course. This attraction saw the light of day as recently as March 14th this year.
-On the outside wall of Cavern Pub, 10 meters from the just mentioned: "The Cavern Wall of Fame".
Hundreds (at least) of bricks with famous Cavern acts on them. Searchers very neatly situated, as closest neighbour to the Beatles brick. (There were also seperate John, Paul, George and Ringo bricks. As well as a Pete and Stuart brick. Sweet!).
This wall was launched 16th of January 1997.
You have read about this before, I know, but I thought I could repeat it! I also took pictures, but don't know yet how they will perform!
Pardon my hurried English!
