Hi, I have a two year old Musicman Stingray that I hardly ever play, just the odd recording sesh. Where would be the best place to get a swap/trade on a Ric bass?

I live in the UK.

All the best, Bob

You can get Rics online at good prices with great service from www.ricpage.com - www.pickofthericks.com - www.ricsrus.com - www.rickbid.com

I personally, would sell the Ray' on the Bay'. Image

I sold mine a couple of months ago on the Regent Guitars Website classifieds section. It sold in a week and they dont charge. There is a guy that looks there who buys and sells Stingrays bought mine for a fair price. They dont fetch great money 2nd hand as they are so plentiful. One thing for certain, you are doing the right thing making the change to a Ric. When you look on the Regent guitars (bass section) website there is only 1 review for the 4003....by me ! Ebay is your only other option, but newish Stingrays arent doing well there at the mo. A part ex at a good dealer might be your easiest and most hassle free option.

I've been thinking about selling one of my StingRay5 basses.

I have two Stingrays that I have a love/hate relationship with. Just when I think I should get rid of them, they prove very valuable for a specific gig. What they do, they do very well, but I like my RICs better overall, just personal preference. A stingray is a great alternate bass to have around, though.

That's funny, I happen to be selling a (late '80s) StingRay bass myself.

I traded a transparent teal Stingray for my Fireglo 4003 straight up, best deal I ever did.

I liked the Stingray, It worked well for the band, but I felt limited with the tone.

My Sterling bass is AWESOME, IMO one of the best production basses out there. I honestly don't understand why so many people go for the Stingray before the Sterling.

I used one solidly for 5 years, then decided to "upgrade" to a USA Fender P-bass Deluxe. Wrong decision, that was a really bad bass. Why do we do these things ? I then missed the Stingray (pre Ric owning) so I bought another, but it wasn't as good as the 1st one. It sat unused in the case for 4 years. I had bought my 1st Ric by this time and the Stingray didnt get a look in ! I can't ever see me going back, they are too limited. A custom built (non Fender) P-bass is my main alternative to my Rics.
