Howdy, I'm new here

Just popped in to say hi. I've been playing bass since 2000 after drumming for 16 years. I gave up the drums due to my hands giving out on me. Up until last year I basically stayed with all Fender Jazz Basses (USA). Now I only have one, a nice '99 model that I love.

Last year I formed a Motorhead tribute band called Capricorn USA, so of course I had to have a Rick. We're one of the "official" tributes. Listen to us at www.myspace.com/capricornusa

I picked up a white (yellow now with age) 1980 4001 for $800 from eBay and I have absolutely fallen in love with it. I really haven't touched the Fender much since I got the Rick!

I am in the market for another 4001, natural or autumnglo (or is it called walnut?) or of course one of the 4004LK's if I could find one.

I am running it through a SansAmp preamp, QSC 850w power amp, an SWR GoliathIII 4x10 and an SWR WorkingMan's 1x15. I picked up a Zoom pedal to get a little extra fuzz in my distortion but I'm not getting it to do what I want it to do, so it's unhooked at the moment.

That's my basics. This site is well detailed and very impressive.

There's actually both Autumglo AND Walnut. Both equally beautiful IMHO.
Of course you could also get a Montezuma Brown & cover both bases (basses)!

Welcome to the forum Sean....

Welcome Sean - I'm new myself - been a RIC player for years, but just got into the 20th Century with a computer.
Witty is the word here...
Think of great comebacks - you'll need 'em!!

Thanks for the hellos!

I called Ed's, they are out of the Lemmy's and all 4001's. He sort of chuckled when I asked for the 4004LK.

Welcome, Sean.

I'm a newbie also. I won't hold the fact that you're a bass player against you - I played a Framus bass back in the 60s so I have an affinity with them thar lot!!

Good luck with your search!

Cheers
