67 and original parts?...I'm not so sure....No horseshoe or surround, pickguard looks like an early 70,s piece and those look like jumbo frets too...I'd need a lot more info on this one. Cool colour though...

Kinda like the "German shoulders" on the dumpster bass. I was thinking of doing that on my next project. Now I know I am.

A 67?? Nah.
If the jackplate says it's a 67, then it's not original to that bass.
What does the headstock look like?
Stereo wiring??? Okay, but not on a 67. This bass has all of the hallmarks of a redone bass from the early 70's.

The bass is pretty close to me. i would check it out but, the dealer info says "cyberstore only".

John: I was thinking the same thing mostly because there was a '67 jackplate on Ebay about a month ago. ROS could very well appear on a '67 Rick. The first Rick-O-Sound guitar appeared in 1960. I have a july of '66 price list that offers a Rick-O-Sound kit for $24.95. There is no mention of a stereo option just the kit so it may well have been standard on the deluxe models by then. I could be wrong but I think ROS became standard on deluxe models in '65.

Ted, I am thinking that 4001 deluxe basses didn't get stereo wiring until 1970 or so. I agree that guitars had it long time before the basses did, but I'm not sure it was offered on a bass until then...I may be wrong too, I'm goin' by my memory...oh brother...

That is a good point John, I had not considered that it may have not been a bass option in the begining.

Ric-O-Sound became a standard feature on the 4001's in 1969 as far as I know..
Up till then it was available as an option item. Not sure how far back the option was offererd though, but my guess would be from the start of the 4001 model in 1961 !!!

'70 is the earliest I,ve seen a 4001 with factory stereo. If there is one out there before that I,d be surprised...Squire's and my green monster modified RM's excepted...
