I thought the thin strip in the necks was from the early 70's to the early 80's. Can this guitar be a 1990?

I don;t know about the date, Dave, but from the seller's description, I believe it's a nitro respray.

If it is conversion varnish, it sure does have a beautiful glow to it! Previous owner was a 5-pack-a-day-man, for sale by widow.

I looked on ebay, it looks like Ric went back to the thick strip in 1998. Who knew?

I looked at this guitar and got some additional pictures from the seller. He seems to be a straight up guy, but the guitar has some finish issues that go beyond original vs. respray, in addition to the missing binding. I think (hope)the new owner will be stripping this one. IMHO, $550 (sans case) is a little on the high side for a guitar that needs a refin, binding work, and a new TRC just to get to "normal used" condition that would sell for ~$900.
