Can't Buy Me Lunch, Eric Idle's new Rutles 2 DVD, arrives in stores March 1st.

In a previous post, I demonstrated occasional ignorance by mentioning that the Rutles' drummer (Ricky Fataar) was once in the Beach Boys. He is, in fact, the lead guitarist.

You're right, and some research would have cleared up my own confusion. Duh. He was also the drummer for the Fabulous Flames, from S. Africa, no?

I'm pretty sure he played drums with Bonnie Raitt, too.

I got the new Rutles DVD over the weekend and finally watched it last night (Feb 27). It exceeded my expectations and I laughed out loud several times. A 'must have' for Rutles fans like me (since 1977). Not much new musical footage, but features Archaelogy tunes throughout. Some of the 'interviews' run a little long, but overall well worth watching. And in the end, the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you make...

I'm glad the release was set to coincide with our Rutles tribute band's debut gig March 26th. Image

hey thats cool....I got the last DVD 2 years ago....it took alot of searching. I live in new jersey and I had to goto to cape may and take the ferry to deleware then I had to change a bus, just to go get to the one store that had it. They had quite a few things actually. It was a nice daytrip

Just to chime in here. A few months ago, Neil Innes told me that Ricky Faatar played most of the drums on Archaeology. The reason being that John Halsey, Barry, had injured his legs in a car crash around the time the album was recorded. The good news is that he has a special pedal setup to help him out and that he can still play.
