I have just completed modifying a 1989 Rickenbacker bass to have an ebony fretless fretboard. My question is where do I locate the fret board markers. Do I put them where the normal fret markers are on a standard bass or do I put them where the frets would be located? Does anyone know? Let me know - Thanks!

You can do this several ways .

The Rick fretless had the dots where the frets would have been.

Fender put the dots where they were had there been frets in the neck .

Upright bassists ....they have none .

You have several choices .None are wrong .
