Bob Scott, or anyone who has a 4001C64. Referring to the upside-down neck/headstock, are there fret dots on the top side, or are they on what is now the bottom? Or both? Dumb question, but I haven't seen reference to this.
Anybody know if McCartney's had dot markers on what would now be the top (viewing) side?

My basses that have upside-down headstocks have the side dots in the proper place(where you can see them).

...or mount on your strap, one of those night lamps that people use to read books in the dark and aim it at your fingerboard.

Inset diamonds over fret dots. Really classes up that Ric and really sparkles under the lights!

Thanks for the help, guys. I have never heard reference to this and it got me thinking. Great pictures, Paul and Ronn. The dots come through loud and clear, Paul. Great close up---thank you.

I know Jeff Rath has made some "Dot" stickers to put on the side of the neck on his basses, gave me some and it helped tremendously in those moments onstage when lighting is less than ideal. I have them on my Thunderbird and 5-string. They are about the size of a hole-punch hole.

That's a great idea. When playing my V63 0r C64 I sometimes struggle to see where I am on the neck and make mistakes when there is poor lighting.

The 4001C64S LH has the dots on the top side, also.

I use one of those pliers-like hole punchers on a white sticker. Makes perfectly round dots that are large enuff to see in low light.

I found a solution to that problem, bifocals, haha! So did the late Entwistle, he had LED's on the side of his bass.
