For those of you interested in such things, this is what a 4002 looks like without hardware. This is only the second time in 24 years that I have taken this bass apart. The filler in the tailpiece pocket will be coming out so I can restore the original tailpiece.
Here are the body routes in detail....

Nice to see Ted. The finish still looks like new on that baby...

I would love to have another. Unfortunately, the prices have really soared in the last few years. The last one sold by Mike Parks went for over $3,000 and that was 2 or three years ago.

Is that pillow Jeff Rath's?
It will be nice when that is back to it's former glory.

Never under estimate the power of tacky textiles!

That is one of the nicest finishes RIC has ever done IMHO. It looks so good with the ebony fingerboard and checkered binding. I'd love to have one of those.

Hmm, I can't see the pictures very well. Could you just send that puppy over here for a closer inspection?

Very cool that you show us your baby naked, Ted. Thanks! Do you have a close-up pic of the control cavity? I'd be very interested to see it.
I personally love the glossy Walnut finish much more than Montezuma Brown and the matte Autumnglo. IMHO, Walnut suits a 4002 better than Mapleglo too.

I think the 4004Cii 4 and 5 string basses would look awesome in that finish.

No, I don't think I have a closeup of just the cavity though it would be a good idea to archive one. I will take one and sent it to you.
