Wouldn't it be interesting?

I'd like to see Rickenbacker put an ad in Bass Player magazine. Along with the ad, individuals could communicate with The Company their future wants and needs. Maybe a checklist type of card with items to check if you're interested. At the tippy top of the list would be 4005. I wonder how many petitions would be generated about 4005 interest if we all join forces?

I don't read the trade mags, but it's hard to believe Ric doesn't advertise there. Are you sure about that?
On these boards there is a hardcore interest in the 4005, generally the average bassist wouldn't be interested in such a beast.
Other forum members can correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe John Hall stated on these boards that he himself was never a big fan of the 4005. It is in my opinion very much a specialty bass with more of a collector value.
Rickenbackers are so interesting because of their artistic value that goes along with the unique sound. Your average Rocker or studio bass player probably couldn't care less.
Not that Rickenbacker asked me but, I would be pushing the 4004. It seems to be an underused instrument and hard to get your hands on except through Ric dealers, meaning it can be ordered, but generally, not in stock.
I'll know for sure next week when I get mine but, I think more players would use them if they were accessible.

But Ric has done other Ltd Ed/Signature basses - how many units would they need to shift to make it feasible?
Personally I'd rather a new 4005 than a 60's/70's one (if I found one) as I know nothing technical about instruments (or amps for that matter)so I wouldn't know if something was dodgy on it!
I just know how to set up a pedal or two - dial in some tones and play away!
Oh - I have learnt to tune up and change my strings though :p
I guess I'll just have to wait till we're big and John wants to do the 4005ROC!!!

Just looked at Bass Player yesterday and they had the "Thunderous Tone" ad in it. It's the one with 100 tips to improve your playing in it.

Long as said 4005v65 didn't interfere with the 4001-v68 then I'd be all for it. If it came down to a choice .... 4001 would have to come first
