Durability an issue?

I think not! Here's a true story. After a gig, one of our helpers went to load our gear. I normally took care of my own guitar stuff but was doing something else - can't remember what. He knew to put my beloved ruby red 360 in near the end to keep it from getting smashed by the heavy stuff. To turn a long story short, he left it beside him standing up in its case, then temporarily forgot about it, and drove right over my guitar (VW Golf - white). The Horror! Our poor helper was nearly in tears as he brought my guitar over to me. The case was cracked on the edges. The car had driven right over the neck, near the joint with the body. I could barely bring myself to open the case but I had to do the hard thing. Well, not only was it in one piece but it was still in tune! Unbelievable! Well done Ric. Sadly it was stolen backstage at a later show. I am not ashamed to admit that a few tears were shed. If any of you come across a ruby red 360 with a chip in the paint betewwn the E and A tuning pegs, well....uh.....you know. This guitar has made people cry! I am playing a tele now. It makes sense - I play funk. But I am strongly considering going back to my first love, a 360. I like the idea of playing something that you wouldn't expect. And the sound would be interesting too. Anyway, just thought I would add my 2 pennies.

I had a 620/12 a few years back. After performing with my band, I laid the guitar on the stage, the guitar was Midnight blue with black trim on a black stage. The stage was about 4 feet high. The soundman actually kicked it off the stage! Although it was no longer in tune (!) there was no damage at all. I love these things.

People always say how rics are delicate, but I once took a chunk out of the headstock of my 360/12, and it was still in tune.

I've dropped numerous Ric basses and guitars... nothing ever happened.

Great instruments!

Might I be able to inspect that chunky area on Monday night, John?

Yes! I'll be playing it!

I don't know what you look like, so you'll have to introduce yourself!

I look like Bram Stoker's Dracula with dual overhead cams and glasspacks.
