I enjoyed meeting this evening for the first time with another member of the Rickenbacker Forum:

That's me on the left, and Jason Bickel on the right.

My wife and I went to see Jason's band, Home By 11, play in Farmersville, IL at a club called McGuire's on the Square. They sounded great. Jason's 4003 was clear as a bell and gave the group a great bottom and nice tone as well. Very easy to pick out and enjoy in the mix. Jason is a tight player, always in the pocket, and he did some runs on songs that I've played before that I never would have thought of, so that was really fun to see and hear, too. I thought their best tune of the evening was a very rockin version of the Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There." I liked their CCR, too, and Jason did a nice job singing lead on "Magic Carpet Ride."

We met and talked Ric's between sets. His 4003 is super clean, and he keeps the action pretty low. Very pretty Jetglo.

It was a fun band to see, and nice to finally meet one of my fellow Forum members. I'm sure we will trade notes from here on out....

Sorry to have missed it, I'm sure it was a great time. Live music and Rickenbackers are infinitely more interesting than talking shop with my aged college friends. I'll be there next time!

Steve - we weren't Home by 11 that night! LOL - We took our name from the fact that our wives would let us practice whenever we wanted to - as long as we were home by 11. That night we were a little late ;)

Don't worry about missing last Saturday. It was a very crazy night, the club was packed so tight for the first 3 sets that you could barely move. 4th set was only a little lighter. Of course, it was a blast. They ran out of beer at the front bar 3 times - a new record! It was 80% full before we even got there - the Firehouse Tavern is a hot club, and it was the Barstool Open too.

Anyhow, our next couple of shows, for any Forumites in the Central IL area:

Friday March 4th - Bowl For Kids Sake event, Spillway Lanes Springfield - MacArthur Blvd at Outer Park Drive, 9pm - 1am

Saturday March 12th - Mojo's, Downtown Springfield, Monroe St. east of 2nd, 9pm - 1am with Posamist.

Here is my '03 Midnight Blue:

And my '00 Mapleglo:

Let me know if/when you're coming out and I will bring them both if you want to check em out. I know living in Central Illinois it is nearly impossible to see an actual Rickenbacker for sale. I bought the blue one having seen only the picture on the internet, and I am so happy with it - the color is even better than I had hoped. Same with the mapleglo - if you haven't seen/held one, you need to, to appreciate the woodgrain, etc.
