The Rose Morris 1999 thread

There's Bjorn's Rickbeat for 1993's and Glen's The 325 Connection but not much for the best of them all the 1999, so I thought I'd start this thread. I hope everyone who has one (or 2) or who has an interest in them will post a pic or any info, comments or questions they have.
cheers
Gerry Fergusson

Nice GerryImage

The only pics I've seen have always been Fireglo...yours is the first Maple one I've seen...I prefer the good old Fireglo though.

Anyone have any idea how many were shipped to the UK and when they ceased to be known as RM1999's and started coming over as 4001's?

125 were made in 1964 & 25 in 1967. Of these I can account for 14. All were Fireglo that I'm aware of.

Gerry...good to see you here! Been too long mate.
Love that fireglo and the flame on DK in that first pic, and the second is only 7 digits away from my white RM1999...

A shot of the back of DH showing wear and with the added plexiglass cover...

The "green monster" from May of 64. The guys were being a little creative the day this bass was put together

The neck and headstock were not forgotten either..

Finally, a 67, currently in acoustic mode, with DH. This has a round heel not a square one like the RM1999's of 64, so I don't know if some of these basses were for domestic use. This has 4001 in the cavity, so this probably can be called a true "S"

My turn over...WeeMac, where are you??

Nice.

Wints, your White Stallion is a classic here.

... 'Tis an odd thread, considering you're the only bloomin' guys who own the things.

Sort of like an elite RM owners club. ImageImage

Absolutely gorgeous, as always. Of course if either of you ever decide to thin out your collections......

Gerry, How new is new, and where did it pop up from? In fact, how have you tracked down 14 ofthem? There can't be many more left - I'm intrigued - what's your secret?

Two great-looking '64 RM1999s, Gerry. But tell me, why is the pickguard overlapping the treble pickup surround on the Fireglo one? Is it a replacement part?
