Does the 4005 - 6 string version have a longer headstock than it's 4 string sister? or a wider fret board for that matter? Has anybody seen one in the flesh? I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I saw one about a year ago. I seem to remember the head being the standard 60's size headstock. The fingerboard was pretty narrow for 6 strings, as I recall.

I guess the head is a bit longer, now that I look at the pics. I saw one at Chicago Music Exchange last year.

I saw one at Truetone Music in Santa Monica, CA about a year and a half ago...my eyes nearly bugged out! Naturally, it wasn't for sale nor would the sales guy let me have a go at it. DRAT! Only a handful of those made, I believe, is that right?

I have only seen 1 in more than 25 years of playing. They are probaby no more rare than the 4005 Lightshow.

Do you know if the pick ups were the same as on the 4 string version or would they have been regular 6 pole guitar pic ups???

The toaster pickup is shown on both of the examples above. The toaster pickups were the same for bass and 6 string guitars and had 6 poles.

Thanks Jeff - do you know if the fret board was any wider than the four string version. I would imagine not? A typically tight Rickenbacker fret board!
