Hello!
Nice to join you folks.
I was wondering if anyone has been using their 325v w/10s and if so, how it was working out?

Talk to Maria.
Use 12s.

Paul,
could you expand on that some? Who is Maria?
I've already used 12s and 13s. I like to bend strings and those gauges are too stiff.

Sorry, M. There's been more than the usual amount of goofing this weekend...
Just a few days ago, a new member called Maria wrote in asking advice on why her 325 wouldn't stay in tune, and also what gauge strings she should use. The consensus was that if it came with 12s, she should stick with them.
Some of the folks here do use 10s on their 325s and I'm sure they will be willing to share their experiences. When I'm not tripping with my (long scale) Rickenbackers, my favorite "other" guitar is a '59 F****r Duo-Sonic with a 22.5" scale. It came to me (long story) in '81 with 12s on it. The first time I restrung it I switched to 10s and it's been on both since many times. I too like to string bend. The F****r neck seems to be a lot less sensitive than the 325 neck to changes in string tension, from my experience with the Duo-Sonic and what I've heard about the 325.
Stick around. Those with more experience will have something to say in answer to your request.
Oh, and welcome!

I can never believe that I have 13s on my 325c58. It's a running joke with my guitar playing friends (not the only friends I have, by the way). "What gauge strings do I have on this cute baby?" No one belives they are 13s.
Well, it's a Texas thing.

Did I say "belives" ?????
Time for some "Scotch & Soda".
(Obscure Kingston Trio joke.)

Joe,
i've got 13Flats on her now and a Bigsby Bridge and she loves it. I had Tim Reynolds over here today and he wailed on that B5. Stayed very well in tune, too.
Guess I'll jes hafta strenghten my fingahs for the bends.
Doncha mean "time for some coffee"?

Hey Murali - It's important to understand that because of the scale length of the 325 - it doesn't feel stiff like you'd think. .012s feel like .010s on a 3/4 scale guitar.
Aside from 325s, the scale length of a guitar determines for me what guage string to put on it.
My Fenders : (25 1/2" scale) get .010s.
My Rics, Gretsches and Gibsons : (24 3/4" scale) get .011s.
The shorter the scale - the bigger the string.

10's on a 325 are like having 7 or 8's on a 330. Bends are all about tension on the string and nothing else, although some brands of strings are inherently stiifer than others due to their construction.
