_TIME FOR A LITTLE SPECULATION . WHAT WOULD HAVE
HAPPENED IF TONY JACKSON HAD JOINED MIKE PENDER'S
SEARCHERS ? IT WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE CURRENT
SEARCHERS A NASTY RUN FOR THE MONEY .

On the surface this union would seem to have promise and I am sure that this may have been in Mike's plans. While there is no doubt that Tony's popularity would have given the group a boost, I am wondering if his addition to MPS would have been overshadowed by the shock of Mike's move that broke up a group of a quarter of a century. My two cents.

Imagine if Mike, Tony and Chris Curtis got together...which line-up would the "real" Searchers be?

An interesting comment Jeff. There are some people who insist to this day that
The Original Searchers would really be comprised of John Wayne, Montgomery Cliff, Natalie Wood and Jeffrey Hunter.

Good one, Peter! Anyway it's an interesting thing to speculate about...It would certainly cause a legal mess though.

I have a early publicity shot of Mike Penders' Searchers. The line-up? Mike Pender, Tony Jackson, Chris Black & Steve Carlyle.
Mike also made contact with Chris Curtis during his run-up to leaving The Searchers (I can only speculate as to why he did this).

_THE SEARCHERS HAD THEIR TURBULENCE BUT SOMEHOW
THEY MANAGED TO PRODUCE EXCELLENCE WITH ALL THAT
GOING ON .

A line-up of Pender, Jackson and Curtis might seem appealing but don't forget that two of them had not performed in public for many years and I doubt whether the end result of a re-formed "Searchers II" would be successful.

Alan: While Tony Jackson and Chris Curtis have been out of the "performing loop" for many years now, based on their talent I would not rule them out to put an impressive gig together.

Hey Guys,
Since we're into "Searchers", as in John Wayne movies trivia, did you know that in addition to furnishing a band name for the boys, one of the Duke's lines in the movie furnished a viewer with a song title. Buddy Holly, and "That'll be the Day" (pilgrim)

Nice work John. I laughed when I read your post. I realize no detail can be overlooked when music history is at stake. I am going to have to watch this video someday soon, particularly seeing as it had such and impact on Mike Pender and a major role in naming The Searchers.
