Name Your Rick

Wondering what's up with naming your bass, is it cool or not? I have had mine a couple months and am starting to feel pretty attached to it.

My old '72 had Nancy under the pickguard, thought to be 'code' for different batches of wood. Thus, the name stuck.
Various female names have been found amongst the 'graffiti' under the pickguard of many 4001s on this forum.
Go ahead and name it.
I think it's great how people can apply a soul to something, I.e a car, aeroplane... or a Ric!

There are also male names, as I have David ('04 4003FL), Greg, Raul (both on my '73 4001), but I do have Claudia on my '03 4004Cii.

I never name my rics ... but if I did some possible names would be ...
Thor ... the god of thunder ...
Brutus ... the snarling mean dog
Rickenbacker ... now there's a good name
Horatio ... the destroyer of fenders
Ricter ... enough low end to cause an earth quake
no girly names ... that would be for keyboards ...

Don't they come with names? Like 4003, 4004, 4001? MapleGlo, JetGlo, Ruby, etc? That's enough for me. "Give me the MapleGlo". That's all I need to say!

I saw that over on the Rick Registry. People have actually named their Ricks for Beatles songs. That's a little weird IMHO but hey, what ever floats your boat. I frequently have to name computers in my line of work but that is where I draw the line.

Call me strange, but I affectionately refer to my kids as: Whitey(1980 4001W), Woody(1977 4001MG), Hotrod(1987 4003S Ruby), Blackie(1998 4001v63 JG), Paul's Bass(2003 4001C64S), the Cheyenne(1993 4004C)and Redboy(1979 4001 Burgundy). I'm still working on names for the others.
I know...I have a problem. But at least I'm not in denial.

All of those are better than "What goes on" and "No Reply" At least they are descriptive.

No real name for my 80, but if it had one, it would be Tune-o-lingus. She never goes out of tune. It's utterly amazing.

God she's a beauty, I'm also getting to like the 70's ones very much! I though it might have been one of Sid Vicious's ones, he had a couple in the early days of the Sex Pistols, a Jatglo, a White onem and a Burgundy. I wonder where they got it from? Have you had it long?
