After reading most of the threads on this board, it seems that most Ric players use Ric or Pyramid strings... Does anybody else out there play Dean Markley's?

I've settled on Dean 11's for my 360/6 and would probably go with 13's (as I have on my accoustic) if I had the thicker neck that Peter Buck has, but I won't wreck my guitar for a string gauge preference.

Corey: My research indicates that approximately 6% of Rickenbacker owners use Dean Markley strings. You can see these results here.

Corey: I've used Dean Markley mediums (11-52) on my 1967 Ricky 370 for over 20 years. I've never touched the truss rod adjustment. They sound great on it, IMHO. I do use Rickenbacker strings on my 360/12CW. Glad you are enjoying your new guitar and welcome aboard.

Jim: since you use RIC strings on your CW, are they 10's?? My CW has the orig. strings and that is what they feel like---I'd like to know how they fare before I buy a set...

John, Yes the Ric 12-string strings are 10-42. They are the same as the strings that came on the guitar from the factory.

Thanks Jim..When it is time, I will probabaly replace them with Rickenbacker strings. I am happy with the tone and the intonantion of my CW, so I'll stick with what is safe.

You're welcome John. Those are the exact reasons that I went with the Ricky strings on my CW.

Jim: I may try a set on my older 12-string ('68 370/12) just to see what they do---I have been using GHS strings on that guitar... Both of my 'twelves' are set up pretty much the same, so we shall see. Strings have as much to do with tone as components and construction, IMO..

Well, I ended up getting some Fender 10's since the music store didn't have any Dean 11's in... Not too bad...certainly different. I've never used Fender strings on anything before. I think these strings are a bit better as far as recording a less "noisy" sound through my Vox.

I use Dean markley Blue Steel ,regular 10-46, on my 360/6CW. I liked the Ricky strings alright but the bass strings were to thin sounding for me and didn't come in any hevier gauges in 10's so I switched to the Dean Markley's. They feel a lot like the Ricky strings. I use Ricky strings on my 360/12CW. I tried a set of D'Addario's but didn't like them. I really like the Ricky strings on my 12 string.

Aaron: I agree that the Rickenbacker 12 string sets are great for their 12 string instruments. I also find that the RIC Compressed Round Wound 6 sets are a tad on the light side when it comes to the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th strings.
