I was seriously considering saving for a 650D or a 620/12.....but after seeing a burgandyglo 425 in person...id really like to go for that one...First off...how much can i expect to find one for (burgandyglo or jetglo) second off how do they sound>? are they light or heavy?

sure did! Thanks for the info. Im in a studio now called "the works" owned by fran smith (from an 80's band called the *******) Im recording the songs that ill be sending to some companies. In the process im still trying to become a member of BMI...Thanks again for the help

You don't have to have a "studio" produced recording to get your songs published. A guitar or piano and vocals on tape is fine - they want the song. (Just make sure the music doesn't cover up your vocals - and you don't have to be a great singer!) CD is better, but some still take an old VHS tape from a hi-fi vcr! Some even prefer it be done simply with one instrument and vocals so they can "hear" it in their own way to produce it as they see fit without any ideas of the writer being in the mix. My point is don't waste a bunch of money on a studio as a lot of publishers will demo the song again anyway before they pitch it. Have a "professional" looking submission (typed lyric sheet, label on tape or CD and all your contact info on everything - make it easy for them to get in touch with you)
Let me know if you need some help with copyright. I know a trick to save you a bunch of money on that. BMI bases membership on any material that may be licensed for mechanical, sync, performance, etc.). If you release a CD with your songs on it, even though they're not published or recorded under a major label, let them know. Reason is that someone else could want to use that music and that makes it eligible for roaylty collection. Just make sure your work is copyrighted. Becoming a member is based on the potential of the music being used by someone else - not that it IS presently being used by someone else.

Alex, the 425 I own is very light and has a unique tone like nothing else. There was a burgundy one on ebay a week ago that didn't make reserve, if I remember right. If you see another burgundy one I'd jump on it.

There is a burgundy 450 (same but with two pickups) on Ebay right now, no bids and a day or two to go at $1,000.
