I've been thinking recently of what I'd want my "next Ric" to look like. I'm pretty certain at this point that I'd go for a 370/12, but I'd like to change things up a bit from my "off the rack" 360 so that I have a bit of a different look.

I think I'd stick with the Mapleglo finish, but am pretty sure I'd want a black pickguard with this one. I'd like to keep the chrome "R" tailpiece and plating instead of the black, though. Also, is it possible for me to request I get the "Dakota knobs" instead of the standard ones? I also might mix and match the pickups a bit, (2 vintage, 1 standard, maybe?) just to get some different sounds from the same guitar.

Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions based on their 370/12 experiences?

Corey: I have always been a big fan of the 'vintage look' on newer Rickenbackers if I cannot find what I want that has real age to it.

If you are into ordering your guitar to your specs, I think 7.4ohm scatter-wound toaster-top pickups look and sound great. If what you want in some aspects is not available when you order, I doubt if you would have any difficulty in finding certain pieces after-market; it may take more time, but 'the chase' is half the fun of looking!!

My own 370/12 is approaching 34 yrs. old and is Mapleglo--still looks great and shows off nice..Fireglo is also a great finish for showing nice wood...that would look interesting with a black pickguard and nameplate!!!!!

It was on sale on eBay around august.
Not really sure it wood look that good - and on a 360/70 you'd have the bindings on top...

On the other hand, maple glo & black trim is very cool - providing you change the pu covers to chrome ; check the thread "and in the end" under 'guitars

Yeah, I'd definitely want the mapleglo with the black pickguard...but keep everything else chrome to provide the contrast.

I get limited in my colour schemes because I always want to keep the rosewood fretboard, which I find looks washed out and unappealing to my eyes when on a guitar with a bright, metalic colouring.
