Why dont you exchange it for a vintage TRC, that would look GREAT with the Jetglo!

This TRC is a real vintage one, the one on the 4004Cii headstock is what you would get.

There are always a few on Ebay, it seems. They don't always have model numbers on them though.

Here is a lovely vintage style one.

What do they charge for an exchange? I have never looked into that.

Jeff, are those Hipshot Ultralite tuners? Image
Ted, the exchange is free with a valid TRC.

Yes they are Hipshot Ultralites, great tuners as if you guys don't know that already!

The exchange is not free. IIRC, I paid $25.00 plus a small shipping charge. Still a lot cheaper than the ebay one. I've done it twice now, and it is worth it, as the vintage TRC makes any RIC look fantastic. And I might add proper, too.

I think I sent mine in and got a new one for the shipping cost...hmmm...I did order new plastic with it, so I might be mixed up there. If there is a charge, it's a small one, and worth every penny.

Out of interest what TRC's are available via exchange.....are the plexiglass ones only available as vintage style which I believe are a bit longer than the current ones or can you get a plexiglass TRC the same size as the current raised leter one?

Vintage style TRCs only come in one length these days. They are 6 11/16" long. The real vintage TRCs did vary in length, the one on my '67 4005WB is 6 3/16" , and the one on my '73 4001 is 5 3/4" long.

Ric charges $25.00 to do the exchange and you have to send the old one back.

ah...truss rod cover was too simple for me to figure out. hahaha. thanks guys.

i have gotten conflicting answers on the "model 4003" thing. some say all the early 4003's had it on the TRC and some say it varied. Maybe I'll just leave well enough alone on the 80 that I have coming in.
