Ok, here we go again...
I'm in Vegas for a month plus and of course, I needed to go to Ed Roman Guitars to gaulk. When I entered the Store the first display I saw was the Ric display>
I counted 65 at this display. I have never seen more Rics in one place ever. There were some interesting specimens on display also. A Pete Townsend>
and a Turqoise 370/12>
I'm thinking about purchising this one or a 350V63 which he has 3 or 4 of or...maybe...both . I will post more pics when I have time to downsize them but for now, enjoy...

Crikey! The most Rics I've ever seen in one place was...well, one!

That's impressive, though it must be a shame to have that much beauty in one place cordoned off by a rope. Oh well, at least Ed doesn't give Rics his 1980's neon green marbled hot pink treatment.

Neon green or hot pink, yes. Marbled, no.

You know, it's to bad I can't make the images bigger here because you may be able to catch a few Rics with discontinued colors such as the 370/12. The entire top row of on the wall are signature models but, I can't remember who's sig. There is even a 381 in the left floor display. I think it's the first one. Then there are the basses in the middle. The one on the left is a Montezuma and the one on the right is a Chris Squire. The one in the middle is a Cheyenne(?).

Holy mama!! If you had enough lettuce in your pocket to buy ten, where would you start?

That is incredible...but..I had two rather lengthy dealing's with Ed, himself...I felt like I was dealing with a car dealership. It was a while back, maybe things have improved.

What's the deal with his shop? Is everything off-limits to customers?

Ed has his "Sales Nazis" that keep you away from the displays...you MUST ask permission first...IF you can get their attention.

When I was there last spring, they were just moving into that store. They had all the RIC's roped off, the basses were in the back , around the corner....juuuust out of my buddies reach, but not mine . I picked up of one of the CS's off the rack, gently resting it on my leg while blasting out Round-a-bout to the best of my ability when these guys ran back there and told me "I wasn't allowed back here" and confiscated the CS like I was some little kid. I actually thought they were gonna call my parents or something....

I was seriously considering taking it home with me UP TO THAT POINT....AND my buddy was going to buy a cool LP that was finished like an old Corvette, but after THAT episode, we both hit the bricks and left with a bad taste in our mouths about dealing with Ed Roman and his goons.....

I would have asked permission first, but those two were trying out a couple of guitars and I didn't want to bother them.....

.... but the store and it's contents (less goons)ARE impressive....

Ed just wants his bucks. If he's got what you want, you pay him and leave. End of story.

Las Vegas. Leave your money with them.

Sorry to here some of you had a bad experience at this place. I had a pleasant experience visiting Ed's. When I walked in, I was not mauled by sales hungry sharks.

I was able to walk around, get a feel for the place and generally ogle all the gear. After I was there for about 10 minues I went back over to the Ric section and one of the sales people walked up and asked if I saw anything I liked. We talked for a bit, even mentioned this site and I told him I was interested in the 370/12 they had and also one of the 350V63s that they had.

I asked him what they were going for and he said the 370 was going for $1700 and the 350(s) was going for $1600(Are these good prices? ). Anyway, after talking a bit more, I told him that I was in Vegas for the rest of the month and that I would think about purchasing one (or both ) of them. I asked if I could get some pics and he said "no problem, feel free".

I feel my experience there was good. It's the kind of shopping/browsing I like to do, the no hassle type. It was great. I'm still amazed at the variety of Rics they had. Can anyone name this signature guitar? The had a bunch of them and I could not make out the name...

As far as I know, that's the Carl Wilson signature Ric, but don't quote me on it.

Yeah that's a Carl Wilson, seems to be a 12 string, but that could just be the picture...

They sure do have a few of them!
I'd like to check out that place one day, Las Vegas is a bit far tho...

Those prices aren't too bad I guess, I've seen worst and I've seen lower on eBay, but of course if you want brand new you'll pay what you have to.
I'm guessing someone with more experience can give you a better idea.
Personally I'd try to find a C58 for that money, but whatever, if its what you want go for it!

i was there in 2002 when it just opened. they were very friendly, but, they limited what you can do to hold them and look at them. they do not allow any one to really plug in because they don't want any ware on them. They had pretty much every model and color at the time, even a John Kay. I was with a guy who bought a 330; i ended up holding off and have used others since. I met ed and scott and the the repair guy. there was no hassle and the selection of all types of guitars was unique in my experience.
