Um, between the heads of the screws and the bridge? Their purpose is to put tension on the assembly so the screws don't fall out. They don't work very well, but a Rick looks naked without them!

No wonder they're falling out. My boss tells me that unless you're under tension you don't perform!!

Looks like the springs have been replaced with grommets in order to provide a pseudo lock nut. Different!!

I've seen grommets used here before. The grommet get pinched between the side of the bridge and the threads preventing the screw from turning.
