Very simliar story to yours--I'm a huge Fender fan (still am), but I wanted a Ric...decided on a 350V63 in Fireglo, had one on order when a scratch and dent showed up on Musicians Friend--guitar was perfect, I'm guessing someone just changed their mind. These are beautiful instruments...sound and craftsmanship are just phenominal.
