I'm going to try and keep this thread going with more acoustic talk. Is there anyone here that would agree with me that coloring acoustic guitars is cool. I have an Ibanez AE 30 which is a dark Blueburst and I think it's an amazing color. I would love to see a Ric Acoustic in the same color. Or any color. I noticed that there is a black acoustic on the website when you click on the "tour the acoustic factory" button. I think that's really nice. Anyone want to chime in on this one?? |

I'm not much for blue...or green...or red, but man, I love the tobacco burst, sunburst, cherry burst, and amber burst that I see from time to time. Gibson has traditionally done the best burst over the years, but lately Martin is doing a great job as is Santa Cruz and Collings. See, most traditionalist like seeing the beautiful top grain in Sitka, Adirondack, Engelmann, or European Spruce. Colors are often used to cover up less than perfect tops, so many folks are suspect as soon as they see a colored top thinking there is inferior wood underneath the stain. I do think a jet black acoustic can look good on a jumbo. Johnny Cash sure thought black looked good...so much so, he hand painted a Brazilian Rosewood D-28 years ago to get that outlaw effect. I'm sure he thought nothing of doing that to a D-28, but today it would be pure sacrilege to pull such a maneuver. |

If RIC were taking orders for acoustics, Neil, you could order a Blueburst. I'm not sure whether 'color of the year' applies to acoustics, however. Melissa probably wants one very badly!! I know that Fireglo is available - guess that one is Jetglo. |

If I could, I would put my order in today. Fortunatley ny acoustic is blueburst itself and the top is a flamed maple. I do want to sell it for something else. My dream is a Ric in the same color. The blue is a bit darker than the image as well. The Johnny Cash model is stunning also. But he's Johnny Cash and is the man in black after all. |

Ah, Melissa, we should all have your problems... I wish I had an indulgent husband, but I'm a guy and I have to BE an indulgent husband. And father to my 8 year-old daughter. THAT is the definition of indulgent... |

Order one before the end of the year, Melissa!! You should have plenty of time to save for it and the waiting will be tenterhook tingling! (not to mention frustrating, depressing, hair-tearing, tear-inducing, etc, etc.......). Paul: I'm still indulging my daughter and she's nearly 23! Add a 16 year old son who's into playing heavy metal and indulgent ain't the word!! |

The FireGlo acoustics look really sweet and really make the gold nameplates and hardware jump out at you. As for Gibson bursts... I've always preferred FireGlo to their cherry burst... I had a honey burst Strings and Things that was really nice. I have not seen MontyBrown in person, but it just looks weird on a Rick to me. Not ever really crazy about AutumnGlo either. BlueBoy acoustic... Hmmmm. Now there is a look. |
