Didn't mean to demean your wonderful score, John. And I'm sure you're right. I meant that although I don't think it's beautiful, I could love it for its rarity! Congratulations. |

When I first saw it on Ebay, I thought " What tha?, Why would someone put that neck/headstock on such a beautiful guitar?!" lol. And you are right, I'm a "sucka" for the rare ones. |

Congratulations John. A rare beauty. It is difficult to come up with a model number for this one - 360/12S, 1993SPC. A long way from the slotted headstock of today. Most intriguing. You would have to think this may be one of a kind. |

So is this one somehow related to the 360-12 that Richard Thompson owns (or owned), or is it a factory prototype or "backdoor" model? What's the story? CK |

John, very cool guitar. Are the six Grover style tuners original? Do you know who this was built for? |

Corey, everything about the guitar points to it being a prototype. The square heel on the neck is most likely from '63. This guitar is not related to the Thompson 12. David: Yes, the banjo Grovers are original. I have no idea who it was the original owner but me, David Mclaughlin and John Simmons are woking on tracing the guitar back to then. We got in touch with the woman who owned from '69 - '83. She bought it from a music store in Butler, PA. She has pics of her with it back then and we are trying to get copies. The search has really been half of the fun. |

Very cool guitar John, even if the headstock is a bit unusual. Man, I never get tired of Fireglo! Let us know what you find on the history of this instrument, it sounds like a cool story just might emerge... And Scott, the Route 66 guy, thanks for the heads up! |
