Since I sold my 325v63 my 330 has become my main guitar but I didn't really like the way it sounded with my Vox Pathfinder 10.Its sounded OK clean but the distortion sounded way too harsh with my 330.Maybe because of the Hi-Gain pickups.Anyway,I traded my Pathfinder and my 93 Duo-Sonic(MIM) for a new Vox AD30VT.What a great amp!I used to have a AD15VT but I like this amp much better because of the power level control on the back. Now after spending the last year buying and selling guitars(25)and amps(10)I am down to my final selection of 1 guitar and 1 amp.I think that it is the perfect combo for me.Now I can concentrate on learning how to play. |

Mitch, You captured some of the John Lennon "mystique" with your JG 330! For me, JG is the color to beat for Rickenbacker guitars. She's pretty Larry |

Mitch, I picked up one of these, too, for a practice amp. It rocks! I love the rockabilly sound I can get on it with a delay setting... The auto-wah is very humorous. |

Thanks for the posts guys!Paul, can you suggest some "Beatle" settings that would work well with my guitar?Right now I am using the AC15 with Tremelo/Reverb but if you could give me any advice on tone/pickup settings to use on both this guitar and amp I would appreciate it. |

Mitch I just recently broke down and my self the same Vox amp you have. And for a broke Teenage kid it was a big deal! I love this amp though. Has a very classy look to it. If anybody can help with some good Beatles settings on this amp That'd be great too! |

Mitch, I have an AD30VT also, and I get the best Beatle sounds using the AC30 setting, turn the treble and the midrange up all the way, and turn the bass down about 1/2. I keep the Master at about the 1 o'clock position, with Gain at about 10 o'clock and volume around 12 o'clock. I usually set the "Effect" knob to Reverb only. To me, that's the cleanest sound of the "early" Beatles. Once you get into the "Day Tripper" years, you have to start adjusting the gain (higher) and possibly the volume (depending on your neighbors!) to give it a more "overdriven" sound. When I move into the "Revolver" years, I most often use the "Black 2x12" setting and give it more Gain. The two amps models I use most are the AC30 and Black 2x12. I really don't care for the AC15 setting (sounds muddy to me) and the others are not really for Beatles stuff IMHO. The guitar you use makes a big difference, of course, and I find the best Beatle Ric sounds (whether my 325C58 or 360-12) come from the AC30 setting. Although if you REALLY want to clear the room, switch it to "Numetal" and stand back. |
