Hmmm...the Amazon prices come out to $14.86 per CD for stereo and $21.82 per CD for mono. Seems odd that times have changed so much. Probably due to the "collectible" nature of the mono set. I'm actually more interested in the mono set because many of the songs have fairly significant variations from the the stereo versions. Of course, I'll most likely get both, now that I've finally got all of the 1987 CD versions collected.

I'm confused. I thought the first four albums were released in mono and the rest in stereo (along with mono mixes). Were the first four albums later remastered for stereo or was that an original option (the albums I bought in the 80s were mono, I think). I might go stereo first since it looks like the complete set and then fill in the monos later.

The first four albums have been available (legitimately) only in mono on CD up to this point. The remasters will be the first time they're available in stereo.

I think this is a major mistake not remixing these discs (like the Yellow Sub Songtrack). No Hi-Rez, nothing!
Of course, I will be buying them.

These will sound better than the 87 cd releases but in no way surpass the Yellow Sub Songtrack, Let It Be Naked, or the Love CD. No way can they get the clarity remastering from the 2 track masters as opposed to going back and remixing from the multitracks.
"I am the Walrus" will still be the same fake stereo mix.
I opened the RTB book briefly last night and the King Lear bit was added during the mono mixing phase and thus that is why the song goes into mono at some point. It wasn't recorded seperately. It's only the mono master. That is why GE had to collapse into mono at some point to incorporate the Lear bit. He created a false stereo version, boosting the lows on one channel and boosting the highs in the other. The Anthology video used a completely remixed Walrus and found a clean copy of the King Lear bit and added it, radio tuning and all. So if they are using the original 2 track masters for these cd's, Walrus will collapse into falso stereo at some point.
So much for Jeff Jones! Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Of course, you know that once evryone buys these, then they will remix the catolog, forcing all to purchase again.

This is interesting. The 2009 stereo discs use the 1987 (?) George Martin remixes for "Help!" and "Rubber Soul". The 2009 mono discs for "Help!" and "Rubber Soul" have the original mono mixes and the original 1965 stereo mixes (vocals on one side/instruments on the other).
I happen to prefer this mix. So, I have to buy the WHOLE Mono box to get the original 1965 Stereo mix for the "Rubber Soul" LP.

Yep, for the stereo box set, but you can't get the mono set from Amazon any longer, at least currently. However, you can pre-order the mono box set through Barnes and Noble still, I think.

I also wish they had be remixed rather than remastered. What I have always wanted to get my hands on is the
original multitrack masters!

From what I have read the stereo release was mucked with ala "loudness wars" to "compete with modern recordings".
In other words, lots of peak limiting, removing the dynamics.
